This Goa trip was my dream. I and my friend Rajeev planned this trip couple of times, but failed. Finally, my dream comes true on the third time, 1st Nov 2013. It’s a four day trip. I am writing this after one and half year. I forgot so many beautiful moments we enjoyed in Goa. So am writing this, what I still remember. The pictures can tell more than what I write.
We started our journey from Trivandrum by train. It takes 22 hours to reach Madgoan Railway Station, Goa. Many tourist guides approached us when we reach the station. With the help of Rishawala, we got an affordable stay near Colva Beach. We had our lunch from a restaurant near beach. Food in Goa is too expensive and drinks are cheap!
2 wheeler taxies are available in Goa. We took Activa scooty for rent, also bought a tourist map. With the help of map and GPS we made a list of places we have to visit. Each day we visited two to three places. Below are some of the places we saw.
Colva Beach
This popular beach is 6 km from Madgoa. It is also known for the Church of Our lady of Mercy. Many water sports are arranged there for tourist. We chose water scooter. It was adventures for me to ride a water scooter. One guide will help to ride. It was the first time I am so close to the sea. We wandered through the shore till the sunset.
Vasco de Gamma
It’s a beautiful place in Goa. Its 30 km far from Panjim, Goa’s capital, and about 5 km from Dabolim airport. We spent some time there and took some pictures.
Bogmalo Beach
On the way back from Vasco, we visited this beach. This beach was not crowed with tourist. But it’s a beautiful beach as other beaches of Goa.
Calangute Beach
It’s the largest beach in the north Goa. It’s the Queen of Goan beaches, 16 km from Panaji. Other than Colva beach, we also saw Water Sports here too. More adventures activities are available here than Colva beach. It includes Parasailing, water skiing, snorkeling, wind surfing, water scooter and so on.
Dona Paula Beach
Its in Panaji. We reached here at night. Eventhough it was dark, sill the place was crowded with tourist. Saw some lighting and road side shops, then we left the place back to our stay.
Chapora Fort
Its 10 km away from Mapusa. There is no proper road to reach here. Its slightly difficult to climb the hilltop. Carrying some drinking water is good. From here we enjoyed the excellent views of the neighbouring beaches and river. The view is simply majestic, sunset are truly picturesque. This fort was filmed in many Bollywood movies including Dil Chahta He.
Dolphin Point
From here we had taken tickets for boat, which carry us to Dolphin point. It’s a 8 seated boat and it started when the seats filled with tourist. After 5 to 10 minutes journey in boat, we saw dolphins. I captured the entire view in my mobile. Dolphin disappears when the engine sound disturbs them. At the edge of the sea we can see an old prison which is still in use. We also saw ‘Jimmy’s Palace’ in the uphill. It’s a restricted private property. This palace is filmed in some old Hindi films.
At night we went for a boat cruise, which filled with entertainment. Food and drinks are available on the board. They arraigned some entertainment programs including comedy, dance and music for tourist. Tourists also got chance to perform in the stage. The boat travels around the sea. We saw luxury Casino ship “Deltin Royal” which was lighted beautifully.
Aguda Fort
It’s a big Portuguese fort in Goa. It is constructed over a rocky flattened top. Tourist are allowed to visit only the top of the fort, because below is Central jail. This fort is situated in an isolated hilltop. At the top there is a big light house. The view from the top of fort is really awesome.
Goa State Museum
Last day of our trip, we visited Goa State Museum, Panaji. It’s a good museum with interesting collection of currencies and coins of different period. We saw archaeological gallery, christian art gallery, old printing machines and paintings. We don’t spent too much time there, coz we have catch our return train after giving back the rented scooty.
At evening we went to the lodge and packed our things and left. We got a private bus to the Madgoan railway station. When we reached our stop, someone had stolen my friend’s wallet which carry ATM card and our return ticket. we got some clue about the guy who stole the wallet and run, from the conductor and passengers. We searched him everywhere about 15 minutes and finally we caught him. He was hiding behind a closed shop. We got the wallet and our ticket back. It took some time to realize that we really got our ticket back! Then we rushed to railway station and board the train. Next day evening we reached home.
